Thank you, the installer on my old iMac was only showing 19MB and kept displaying the above error. So please check the size of installer first when you get this frustrating error message. And I had my my upgraded from the full installer without any problem. So I had finally copied the full version of this High Sierra installer form another Mac which had it already. But the one thing I learned that the installer I was running is just 19MB is size which used to download the rest of the content after starting the installer. I tried the steps mentioned above by macos-recovery-server.md and this command " sudo ntpdate -u " did not help as I was upgrading my Mac from Sierra to macOS Sierra and everytime I was running the installer it just showed the error message The recovery Server could not be contacted and tried all the steps mention at also but nothing worked. I'm currently facing the same problem how did you solve yours? Please help as I m stuck, what can I do to dole this problem and install the OS on my MacBook, previously it’s was running on macOS Sierra till this happened, please help, ![]() It says “the information on the recovery server is damaged” no matter how much I try. ![]() I made a bootable usb with transmac software in windows PC, since I had no access to other MacBook, bootable usb with macOS Sierra dmg file And l hold down the option key while powering on the MacBook it doesn’t show or give me the boot options from usb it directly takes me to internet recovery and after that the same process. ![]() After that when I start my MacBook it shows a folder with question mark on it and won’t start, so I googled around and did the cmd + option + R key and it brought me to the internet recovery after which I landed on a page called macOS Utilities and form there through disk Utility I erased my drive to instal a fresh copy of OS X through internet recovery but when I try to install it says “the information on the recovery server is damaged “ I tried like 15 to 20 times through internet recovery it’s still doesn’t work and gives me the same “ the information on the recovery server is damaged”. When it’s done, you’ll have High Sierra on your Mac.Last I had done a factory reset on my MacBook Air 2017 model and while I was installing Mac OS High Sierra the installation didn’t complete, I don’t know why and how. Your Mac will restart and proceed with the installation. If you have other applications open, the installer will ask to close those apps. The installer will tell you it needs to restart the Mac to proceed.Enter this information and click Add Helper. You must enter the username and password for the new “helper tool” that the installer wants to install.Select your Mac’s startup drive and click Install.Read the software license agreement and click Agree. It will be saved to your Applications folder. You can quit (Command-Q) if you want to run the installer later. ![]() When the download finishes, the installer will automatically launch. When you’re ready, click the Download button at the upper left. This should bring you to the High Sierra section of the App Store, and you can read Apple’s description of the new OS there. You can also do a search, but you’ll probably find it in the top marquee carousel or somewhere in the Features section of the store. Look for macOS High Sierra in the App Store.Launch the App Store app, located in your Applications folder.
